After IEW: Lost Tools
ByCindyQ
Since beginning my first Lost Tools of Writing class in 2015, I’ve enjoyed guiding students as they learn to think more deeply and communicate ideas more clearly. Lost Tools of Writing goes beyond simply teaching writing mechanics. It teaches students how to think, ask thoughtful questions, and build logical arguments.
The program develops three important skills:
✓ Invention (Thinking) – Students learn to generate ideas, consider multiple perspectives, and make thoughtful judgments using tools such as ANI charts.
✓ Arrangement (Structure) – Students organize those ideas into logical outlines and persuasive essays.
✓ Elocution (Style) – Students refine their language so their ideas become clear, expressive, and compelling.
